The FCPS Region 1 to announce that Jason Pannutti has been selected as the new principal of Navy Elementary School. Mr. Pannutti is currently the principal of Poe Middle School and has more than 24 years of experience as an educator in Fairfax County Public Schools.

Mr. Pannutti started his career with FCPS in 2001 as a sixth-grade teacher at London Towne Elementary School.

From 2007 to 2014, Mr. Pannutti worked as an assistant principal at Virginia Run Elementary School and Mosaic Elementary School. As a school-based administrator, Mr. Pannutti led the use of Math Workshop in all math classes. He helped to create professional learning for all team members around math and reading best practices. During his tenure, both schools experienced significant gains in math achievement.

In 2014, Mr. Pannutti was selected as principal of Bren Mar Park Elementary School. He worked closely with teachers to develop goals based on student data. Mr. Pannutti also developed a school-wide academic needs assessment in math instruction, from which he developed a targeted professional learning plan for teachers. 

In 2018, Mr. Pannutti was selected as principal of Poe Middle School. Under his leadership, Poe Middle School was nominated as a Nationally Distinguished Title I School for eliminating academic achievement gaps.

Mr. Pannutti has a Master of Education Leadership from George Mason University and a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Clarion University. His commitment to excellence in education is evident in his professional development, which includes training through Harvard University, Solution Tree, and the Buck Institute.
