Technology
Technology plays an integral role here at Navy. All students, K-6, use technology on a daily basis. Our kindergarteners use iPads and the rest of our students use personal laptops. Navy's teachers use technology as a tool to not only enhance learning but to also engage their learners. Students are able to amplify, and transform their learning outcomes through the purposeful use of technology. Students can also access a variety of different tech tools such as ST Math and Lexia, that aides in targeting their individual learning goals.
Technology also helps students learn 21st century skills to better prepare them as they continue in their academic careers. Our SBTS: School Based Technology Specialists, helps to support the use of technology in the classroom through coaching our teachers. Our TSSPEC: Technology Specialist, helps to maintain and provide the equitable use of technology for all students.
At the start of each year, parents are asked to provide their Digital Consent for their child or children. This allows our students and teachers to use a variety of tech tools in their classroom. All of the tools have been vetted by FCPS. Please see the link below to provide your consent.

You can find many resources for families and students using the FCPS technology. You'll find quick links and resources to many things on this FCPS page.
Schoology: Our Learning Management System
Teachers use Schoology to post their classroom materials online, to provide a secure forum for students to discuss their ideas and collaborate on projects, and to assign and collect homework electronically. It helps students stay organized and it keeps the class connected.
Schoology is the learning management system FCPS uses division-wide. It is a learning space that supports instructional practices aligned with FCPS’ learning model and helps students reach the Portrait of a Graduate goals.
A Schoology parent account gives you access to:
- Your child’s classes.
- Your child’s upcoming assignments.
- School, class, and group announcements.
Parent accounts will be available after the first day of school. To access Schoology, parents will need to have an active SIS ParentVUE account. More information on how to log in and use Schoology is available online.
